A loan of PKR 60,000 helped expand a general store.
Muhammad Ashfaq is 41 years old and lives in a poor settlement in the populated city of Lahore. Like most people in the settlement, he had little schooling to speak of because his parents couldn’t afford the fees. As he grew up the choices he faced were stark. He currently owns a small shop where he sells fresh milk. Though the sale is good, there is not much progress. Not only that he has to send his son to earn some income to provide some support to his family at the time when he should have books in his hands. Often there is little, or nothing, left over and every day becomes a struggle to survive.  Muhammad Ashfaq has taken a leap of faith by applying for a loan to diversify into selling grocery. He believes his customers will also buy other household items along with milk. He consequently can improve his living standard through this improved earning.  A donation would provide loan for him for a whole year. He then would be one step closer to being self-sufficient.
