A loan of $216 helped to expand a general store.
Shumaila Ahmed Khan, 33 years old, lives with her daughter in Lahore, Pakistan. Divorced, she doesn't allow her marital status to come in the way of her making a living for herself and her daughter, Riza, who is presently attending high school. To make ends meet, she has been running sales operations at a general store in her locality. She has to scrap together money from her savings and other generous donors, makes for a very difficult situation fo Shumaila and her daughter. She dreams of a better life, and although she knows it is going to be a long time in school and college for Riza before she manages to earn for the family, she believes her work at the general store can make things easier for the two of them, given a proper expansion of the store and its operations. However, in a financially constrained position, Shumaila finds it difficult to gather enough capital to invest in the store's expansion. For this reason, she has her hopes resting on a crowd funding program for her business, where generous donors can come together for a little social investment in her cause.
It will empower a divorced, single mother to expand her business and come out of a financially difficult situation for her famliy.
