A loan of $180 helped start a food business.
Muhammad Arshad, along with his wife and infant son, lives in a combined family setting in Lahore. He is involved in menial labour work in his locality. With three families living under one roof in a house comprising of uncovered washrooms and kitchens and only one brother accompanying him in his labour job, Muhammad's family lives in poverty. In this environment, Muhammad is looking for economic development by starting a local business in the food sector. Having acquired three years of experience in a coke factory, he believes he has enough technical skills to start a business in this sector. However, in order to get the ball rolling, he requires a small microloan to sort out business logistics and further invest in his business, thus affording him the financial freedom to break free from the shackles of his labour work - something he belives is possible with a crowd funding campaign.
This loan will give Muhammad Arshad just the encouragement he needs to start a business from scratch, thereby allowing him to provide for his family, especially his 11 month old son, whom he plans to send to school to save him from a life of labour work such as that which he is presently involved in.
