Asim Khokhar is an underprivileged person living in a difficult condition in Lahore. For more than a decade, Asim worked as a driver for rent-a-car service. As his responsibilities and expenses increased, the job became a struggle as the salary proved insufficient to manage a household all on his own. Things became tougher when Asim’s younger sister’s wedding approached as he had to sell his auto-rickshaw which he recently bought to meet the expenses incurred. As depressing as it sounds, Asim and his family have been given a medium-sized hall space in his late father’s house by his brothers. To manage his family’s basic necessities and cover household expenses, Asim drives a pickup van. Earning only a limited amount from this job, Asim’s survival in Lahore has become extremely difficult. Our social mobilizer also talked to Asim’s wife. Her wife and kids are feeling financial pressure. She believes that if the situation persists they will have to reduce the number of meals daily.
