Taqwa has many definitions but essentially means “awareness of God” or “piety or fear of God”. It is to protect oneself from what angers Allah.
According to Wikipedia: Taqwa is an Islamic term for being conscious and cognizant of God, of truth, "piety, fear of God.
The aim of Roza or Fasting is not to make us hungry and thirsty, or to divest us some of our comfort and expediencies. We can say that the real purpose of fasting is that we learn Taqwa. In Islam, Taqwa is highly emphasized in the Qur’an and Sunnah. There are more than 158 verses in the Holly Qur’an on taqwa, and there are hundreds of hadiths on Taqwa. So, we can see that Taqwa has great importance in Islam and on Muslims life.
Fasting is an Obligatory duty in Islam:
Almighty ALLAH says in Quran, Fasting has been made obligatory for Muslims as it was obligatory for other religions before Islam.
Relation in Fasting and Taqwa
Fasting builds the symbol of taqwa if it's served in the right way. How does fasting make the symbol of taqwa? Let us feel at some of the effects that a fasting person is assumed to serve, and know how they're communed to the conception and spirit of taqwa.
1. Fasting, Prayers, Charity and Pilgrimage
Fasting, unlike prayers, charity, or pilgrimage, fasting is an invisible act. purely Allah and the person who's fasting endure whether he or she's fasting or not.
One may still eat or drink something and no one will descry and no one can determine out. Still, the fasting person has fabricated this commitment for the sake of Allah and he or she wants to guard the chastity of his or her fast for the sake of Allah.
Fasting therefore teaches sincerity, and it helps a person get to live by the principles of his or her faith anyhow whether others know or don't know. This is the same aspiration and nature of taqwa.
2. Food and Sex
Food and Sex two requirements and desires that are essential for human survival and growth, but they can come fluently corruptive and disruptive if they aren't duly controlled and chastened.
Taqwa requires observing the rules of Allah when one eats and when one enjoys sexual relations. Fasting teaches how to control and punish these solicitations.
